Materials
Our philosophy made physical.
Materials made from the ground, returning to the ground.
Pigment, ink, charcoal and dye - developed through plant, mineral and earth-based processes.
Small-batch.
Plastic-free.
Non-toxic.
Rooted in landscape.
•
These materials are not manufactured.
They are grown, gathered, burned, soaked and ground - shaped through time, season and process.
Each carries variation.
Each holds trace of origin.
No two batches are identical.
•
NATURAL DYE
Colour held in fibre.
From cloth and fleece to rope, paper, wood, stone and mushroom - natural dye moves across surfaces and forms.
Brewed, extracted, simmered.
Colour that is alive.

PIGMENT
Colour drawn from earth and plant.
Ochre ground from raw mineral.
Lake pigments formed from dye, fixed into particulate colour.
Pure, mineral-rich, elemental.
Pigment moves across forms - into paint, ink and print.
From watercolour held in shell, to printing inks and painted surfaces, each pigment shifts depending on binder, medium and use.

INK
Liquid colour through tannin and plant.
Made from bark, leaf, gall and dye - extracted, filtered and combined with natural binders such as gum arabic.
Colour deepens through layering.
Absorbed into fibre, paper and wood.

CHARCOAL
The essence of the plant, held in carbon.
Wood transformed through fire and air.
Charcoal has been made from driftwood, hazel, willow, grape vine, artichoke, gorse, bramble, blackthorn and alder - each carrying a different softness, density and mark.
Each stick holds the structure and memory of the plant it came from.
MATERIAL FORMS
Beyond pigment, ink and dye, materials extend into structure and form.
- Plant-dyed natural latex for prop and costume.
- Bioplastics for animation and surface.
- Willow grown and shaped by hand.
- Fibres twisted into cordage from gathered plants and bark.
From soft matter to structure, these materials move into space - woven, built, held.
PROCESS
Across all materials, the approach remains the same:
Working with what is local where possible.
Growing, foraging and using waste streams where appropriate.
Allowing material to lead.
Materials are produced in small batches,
with limited releases.
