The Birmingham Allotment Project

Plant-dyed textile works developed using colour grown across Birmingham allotments.
Army surplus wool blankets were dyed with heritage plants including rhubarb root, rhubarb leaf and woad, then reworked into patchwork pillar wraps for the Library of Birmingham.
Colour was drawn directly from the allotment landscape - grown, harvested and processed by hand - embedding local material into the fabric of the work.
Four bespoke pieces were created in response to the project’s palette, designed by Keith Dodds.
